The nice thing about installing the Windows operating system is that you can perform a fresh Windows installation; the annoying thing about a fresh installation is that you have to reinstall all your applications and redo all your tweaks. This can be time consuming and a big pain in the unmentionables. The automation program Windows Post-Install Wizard (WPI for short) aims to do away with this pain. With this application, you can have the Windows operating system and all your applications, tweaks and scripts on one disk. You can easily install all your applications after performing a fresh Windows installation.

To enjoy the functionality WPI has to offer, you must first get a 3.9MB archive onto your computer. Adding WPI to your Windows disk depends on the operating system you use; instructions on how to do so if you’re on XP, Windows Server 2003, Vista, Server 200, or Windows 7 are provided in the application’s manual. Just follow the instructions presented there and you should be just fine.

Using WPI is not for the novice computer user. The interface is good looking and it is user friendly, but the functionality you can access via this interface may be a bit too much for a novice. But we all have to start somewhere, so to help the WPI user out, there’s a detailed manual and there’s a handy Read ME file.

Once you have WPI all figured out, you can use the application to create a single disk for all your applications, tweaks and scripts. When you perform a fresh Windows installation, instead of re-downloading all your applications, you can use the disk you created with WPI. From a nice interface you can select what you want to install on top of your fresh Windows OS. You can also add WPI to a Windows installation disk; thus, you can have your OS, your applications, tweaks and scripts on one disk. When you’re done installing Windows, WPI kicks in and asks you what you want to install; if you don’t select anything, when the timer runs out, your default applications will be installed. This is a very nice way of automating the process of installing Windows and all your applications.

WPI is freeware. Cons:
None that I could think of.

Pros

WPI features a good looking interface. There’s a handy Read Me and a useful Manual to check out. Create a disk with all your applications, tweaks, scripts; integrate WPI with your Windows installation disk. This handy automation tool is freeware.

Cons

ider making a donation to the developer if you enjoy using WPI and if you want to support its development. Windows Post-Install Wizard does away with the pain of having to install all your applications after a fresh Windows installation. It is a handy tool that automates the process of installing Windows and all your applications.
